November 2016

Not much to say here.

This was meant to be a week of doing The Way of the Roses using Hattie our new (to us) Mazda Bongo. We found a nice campsite near Settle and spent the first, extremely cold, night without heating or electricity. Indeed it was deemed too cold for cycling (although the star gazing was amazing).

So, we just used our stay as a fact finding mission for Hattie. This included buying an electric fan heater and  a connecting cable for the camp electrics. We had a nice sunny afternoon in Settle and the following day rode  the Settle Carlisle line up to Applebly. The weather was a bit murky but still enjoyable and Appleby was very pleasant with at least one inviting pub with a warm fire.

What did we learn. We need to convert Hattie from a bus to a caravan, the fuel consumption is a bit high and the suspension firm and van like. Good fun though.
